Several critical questions have been asked, including "Who pays?" and "What is the value proposition?" The answers are complex, multi-faceted and require organizations from different industries to collaborate and align with current policy and regulatory guidelines. Join us as we move the discussion forward, identify promising business models, and learn from those companies who have created commercially viable models that could scale mHealth globally.
Healthcare, technology and investment communities seek regulatory clarity on wireless medical technologies to accelerate this promising engine of health care innovation. Concerns include modernizing evaluation frameworks, eliminating barriers to interoperability, and ensuring privacy and security of medical devices and data.
The 2011 mHealth Summit Research Track will highlight ground-breaking health research using mobile technologies both in clinical medicine and for public health outcomes. Paper and poster presentations will address research on a wide range of mobile health applications, including assessment and diagnostic tools, preventive health efforts, disease surveillance methods, chronic disease management, mobile telemedicine, and behavior change interventions. In addition to feasibility, usability and pilot studies of cutting-edge applications, presenters will also share rigorous and well-controlled evaluations of more mature applications.
The mHealth Summit Technology track includes sessions that will examine technologies in the market today as well as new technologies still under development. mHealth technologies will address gaps in health delivery thereby improving health globally and at all income levels. Mobile technologies also include commonalities that enable global economies of scale. Interoperability and security among mHealth technologies is imperative as these services are introduced to market. In addition, ensuring consistent practices across implementation, deployment, maintenance, administration, and other aspects of technology deployment is of paramount importance.
The mHealth/mFinance track will be divided into three sessions. The first session will be a panel covering critical policy dynamics at the intersection of mHealth and mFinance, followed by a session presenting a variety of business models, and closing with an interactive session exploring technology and platforms for a real case study from Haiti. The last session intends to generate a list of technologies, interventions and models for approaching mHealth/mFinance.
