Session Overview

Mobile health device security has emerged as a critical issue. Present wherever a patient might be found, mobile health devices are crossing all healthcare enterprise boundaries and are increasingly prevalent both inside and outside of the healthcare enterprise.  The nation’s healthcare system is dependent on a national medical device network composed of a multitude of networks that span across all points of care.    

Session Objectives

This panel will address applied medical device security from the technology perspective offering discussions around specific technology approaches to ensure a robust and secure wireless health capability for healthcare providers and partners as well as their patients.  Specific technology capabilities in the context of the unique challenges presented by the wireless medical device compared to wired device in the healthcare enterprise will be discussed:

  • Auditing the robustness for security of the medical device and medical device network in the healthcare enterprise
  • Security testing the medical device including use across all patient environments including home through the healthcare enterprise
  • Network configuration architectures to deliver medical grade wireless infrastructure and integration with the greater healthcare enterprise network to optimize benefits of interoperability while delivering robust security
